MWF replaces GWF, GWF01, GWF06, MXRC, HXRT, FXRT, HWF, and FXRC. The MWF GE Smartwater water filter was designed to work with the high pressure water system included in the 2001 and newer GE SmartWater refrigerators. GE recommends the use of only the MWF in its high pressure water system refrigerators. However, MWF is backward compatible with all other GE SmartWater refrigerators prior to 2001 and GE Water by Culligan refrigerators.
